Content ideas for IG stories and reels are easy to incorporate into your content strategy. Instagram started prioritizing video content which meant Instagram reels took over the algorithm. All I could think was how will I reach my audience with all this camera shyness? That’s when I realized, I was just overcomplicating matters like always. As you know, I only recommend these tips because I have tried them and they work but the icing on the cake is the fact they are pretty easy to do.

When it comes to Instagram marketing, simply put, reels and stories are game-changers for marketing your online business. Why? Well, I don’t think there is a platform out there that builds the “Know, Like, and Trust” factor with your audience as naturally as IG Stories and Reels do. Normally as entrepreneurs, in order to build that with our potential audience, we use blogging and email marketing.

Everybody has a story so, share your story. Introduce yourself and tell your followers who you are, what you do, and how you can help them.

What inspired you? How did you get to where you are now? How was the journey? While sharing your story I think it’s important that at the end of the day, your story provides value to someone else.

I know what you are thinking, but my life is not that interesting or entertaining. You don’t always have to go out for brunch or drinks in order to post a day in your life. Here is something I learned in my PR years, people will buy from someone who is relatable.

Maybe a normal day for you is in yoga pants working on the couch. I know for a fact I would relate to that more than a person who is always at extravagant places that my introverted mind can’t handle.

Also naturally, we are all nosy and we love seeing what goes on behind closed doors. So if you can show what you do behind the scenes, a lot of your followers will love it.

This content idea is amazing reels too not just stories.

Your goal should always be to provide value for your audience.

Do a poll with two topics and ask your audience which one they want to learn about. After 24 hours, come up with 2 or 3 tips that will help your audience on the topic they gave. Share them on your stories. My advice that I learned the hard way. Have your talking points written down. It just makes everything easier.

I am assuming that you use different platforms. This means you will have blog posts, tweets, podcast episodes, and youtube videos that you can promote.

Sometimes, you will come across a blog post, TikTok, or tweet that you think is valuable or relatable to your audience. Share it on your stories. Don’t forget to tag the original creator to show them some love.

These are so cool if you want to show your audience how to do something or use an app/tool and share on your IG stories.

Although, sometimes video tutorials can be super long. The alternative would be to take screenshots and add some texts explaining further.

When you can, share testimonials results from your clients. These can also be shared on your Instagram posts but you gotta be strategic about it.

If you do a good shop, your clients will share their wins with you. Screenshot those messages and post them on your stories.

I love doing this, especially for reels.

For example, a monthly roundup of April. Show the content you published, fun stuff you saved & did, and the best food you ate if you’re a foodie like me.

Are you shy to promote your paid offering? Well, don’t be. The best way for you to help your audience achieve their goals is through your paid offers.

At least once or twice a week, talk about your paid offer and what benefits are as a result. Include a clear CTA at the end. The reason I say 1or 2 times a week is because we don’t want you sounding salesy. Sure you are running a business but at the same time, you don’t need to be a salesperson in the process because trust me nobody will watch your stories if you do this daily.

This is very engaging for one. The ask me anything questions are smart for two main reasons. They are entertaining and valuable and as a bonus, the questions your audience ask could be repurposed into Instagram reels, post, podcast episodes, and blog posts.

You can use the poll to butter up your audience for your paid offer or your freebie.

This is a great way to grow your audience. Give a shout out to your clients, students, friends, peers really anyone that you feel is crushing it. For example, I have a friend who gives a shout-out whenever she signs a new client and I love that.

For this to work, you have to tag them so they can get notified and they will most definitely reshare to their audience.

How To Make Your Future Audience Know You With Instagram Highlights

An Instagram highlight is a saved folder or group of your Instagram Stories. Your IG stories are bundled together in one highlight on your profile page. The best thing about highlights is that they are permanent unless you delete them.

By now you know how much I love strategy. With that said, be strategic with your highlights. Only have highlights that absolutely bring value to your audience.

Highlights Ideas:

  1. Showcase your services or products
  2. Start here- Introduce yourself, share your story and your expertise
  3. Client testimonials, case studies, and results
  4. Offer your freebies that will grow your email list 🙌
  5. Your mini-trainings
