Canva Pro has a lot of amazing features but what I love the most is the huge stock library and the brand kit saves me a lot of time while designing my graphics. Of course, like thousands of other business owners, I have heart eyes for Canva.
I used the free version for years until last month when I upgraded to the Pro version. I needed to know it was worth it and when my business started growing, I needed to upgrade.
Is Canva pro worth it? That’s the burning question.

My Final Thoughts
What is Canva?
In case you are a beginner at Canva, let me explain what it is. I mean we were all beginners at some point.
Canva is an online graphic design editor. That allows you to edit and create Pinterest pins, Instagram posts, reel covers & Instagram stories, ebooks, logos, and honestly, pretty much anything you can think of that you need for your business.
They have a library of photos, videos, and audio that you can use in your designs.
Like their slogan says, design anything. With templates, you can do exactly that. Especially if you are not in a creative headspace. All you would need to do is change the font, and image, and add your brand color.
What I love about Canva is the fact that even with the free plan it’s not too limiting especially if all you want is to create simple graphics. For example, I have been using Canva since I began my business in 2020 and I was on the free plan all that time before I decided to upgrade in 2022.
However, there are a few features that are in Canva Pro that I needed according to the direction in which my business is going.
The huge stock photos and video library 😍, brand kit, unlimited folders, extra storage, and the magic resize that can turn my Pinterest pins into Instagram posts, IG stories, Facebook posts and so many more.
Don’t just take my word for it and try it for yourself:

Deep Dive Into The Differences
Photos, Videos, and Graphics
If you use the free version of Canva then you know you have access to thousands of photos, videos, elements, and graphics. With the pro version, you get this plus 100 million+ premium photos and graphics.
This can be amazing for you if you have subscriptions from multiple stock photo websites.
As you can see from the image below, I have access to over 87,000,000+ photos. The only thing I can say is mind-blowing 🤯
Fonts & Upload Fonts
The free version gives you access to 1,000 fonts. You can’t upload your own fonts.
Let’s say there is a font you actually like, with the pro version of canva you can upload your own font files. Also, get access to the complete font library with over 3000+ fonts.
I know so many people use the free version of Canva, the benefit of having access to more than 1000 fonts means you can stand out from others on Instagram and Pinterest.
Templates & Create Your Own Templates
The free version of Canva has over 250,000 templates (amazing), but with the Canva Pro account, you get these free templates, plus another 600K+ premium templates.
Before Canva made some changes, free account users could not create templates. I noticed this last year when I was working with a client. Even with a free account, click on the share button and click on the share link to use as a template.
This is pretty handy if you plan to sell templates as a passive income idea.
Magic Resize Feature
Every platform has the size it requires for its posts. For example, Pinterest recommends 1000 x 1500px for standard pins while Instagram recommends 1080 x 1080px for standard posts.
By now you all know how I love to repurpose content. So, after I create a Pinterest pin, I resize it to an Instagram post and story. This is such a time-saver feature.
DO YOU WANT TO TRY IT FOR FREE?
Above is an example of what you can add to your brand kit.
What goes into your brand kit includes:
- Brand colors for ease during the design process
- Fonts plus you can upload your fonts
The free version of Canva has: You can save just 3 colors to your brand kit, but you aren’t able to upload fonts, logos, or more brand colors.
Storage & Folders
I am a little OCD so organizing is my jam in every aspect of my life.
I make a lot of designs and at the end of the day, my computer ends up with a lot of images that are not organized. I have folders for:
- Individual clients
- Social media posts but I organize them by month since I create content once a month
- Printables and templates
- My freebies content
- Personal designs
Canva pro storage: Unlimited folders and 100GB of cloud storage.
Canva free storage: 2 folders and 5GB of cloud storage.
Canva Pro Pricing
As of May 2022, Canva has changed its price from $12.99 month to $6.49 monthly.
Which I think is so affordable.

My Final Thoughts: Is The Paid Version Worth It?
First, I would recommend that you audit your business and social media marketing. If you see you will need to raise your game, then try the 30-day trial and see if it makes a difference.
Now, personally, I think it’s totally worth that $6.
First, I like working smarter and not harder. Pro saves you a lot of time. Especially if you work with a lot of individual clients like me.
If you are a small business, entrepreneur, or blogger who is looking for a cost-effective, professional, and easy-to-use platform for your designs, then YES!
